Alzheimer’s Community Care’s Dementia Specific Curricula is credentialed by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, meeting all statutory training requirements. Alzheimer’s Community Care is approved to train staff working in Assisted Living Facilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities, and Specialized Adult Day Centers.
Curricula is approved by the following Florida Boards:
- Nursing and Certified Nursing Assistants
- Osteopathic Physicians
- Nursing Home Administrators
- Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapists and Mental Health Counselors
- Council of Dietetics and Nutrition
Every three years, the curricula are reviewed and updated to maintain the most current and relevant educational information. The review process sustains the credentialing, significance, and freshness of the curricula.
Training includes the following and more:
- Understanding Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders
- Characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease
- Communicating with persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders
- Environmental triggers
- Ethical issues surrounding the care and treatment of people with Alzheimer’s disease.
- Nutrition and hydration
- Behavior management
- Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s)
- Therapeutic activities
- Family Issues
- Stress management for caregivers
- Medical information regarding Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders
- Current treatments and research
The DOEA-required 4-hour annual update for Assisted Living Facilities and Specialized Adult Day Centers is also provided. We tailor this program to the needs of your facility and your staff. This 4-hour training can be provided in a single session, or can be divided into four 1-hour or two 2-hour sessions.
Alzheimer’s Community Care is credentialed by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs to teach required Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders training for:
- Assisted Living Facilities (3- and 4-hour curricula)
- Skilled Nursing Facilities (3- hour curriculum)
- Specialized Adult Day Centers (3- and 4-hour curricula)
